18 candidates of the ruling coalition won in the election for 19 seats of the National Assembly

Kathmandu,  26 Jan The results of the election for the election of 19 members of the National Assembly have been announced. In the election for 19 seats, 18 candidates of the ruling coalition have won in all except one in Koshi.

In Koshi, UML’s Rukmini Koirala won by defeating Maoist’s Champa Karki from the power coalition. But Krishna Sitaula of the Nepali Congress, the candidate of the alliance in Koshi, defeated Uddhav Paudel of the RPP. Sitaula won with 730 more votes than Paudel. But when the candidate of the alliance did not vote, Champa Karki of Maoist was defeated by UML candidate Koirala. In Koshi, it has been confirmed that the voters of the ruling coalition voted for UML and RPP.

Similarly, in two seats of Madhes province, the candidates of the alliance Anand Prasad Dhungana of Congress and Pooja Chaudhary of Janata Samajwadi Party have been elected.

Four candidates of the ruling coalition have won in Bagmati. Vishnudevi Pudasaini of Congress, Jitjung Basnet of Congress on the other side, Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Maoist on the disability side and Ghanshyam Rizal of Integrated Socialists on the Dalit side have won.

Similarly, candidates of the alliance have been elected in Gandaki province. In other clusters, Kiran Babu Shrestha of Nepali Congress, Manrupa Sharma from CPN-Maoist in women’s cluster and Padam Periyar of Nepali Congress in disability cluster were elected.

Both the candidates of the ruling coalition have won from Lumbini region. Bishnu Kumari Sapkota of Congress and Jhakku Prasad Subedi of Maoist won on the women’s side.

Similarly, in Karnali, all the three candidates of the alliance won. On the other hand, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya of Congress, Savitri Malla of United Samajwadi Party for women and Bishnu Bahadur Vick of Maoist Center for Dalit were elected in Karnali.

Three candidates of the coalition also won in Far West. Maoist’s Renu Chand, Congress’s Narayana Dutt Bhatt and Congress’s Baldev Bohra have won on the women’s side.

The Election Commission has not officially announced the results. Voting started at 9 am and ended at 3 pm in the designated polling stations and polling centers of the respective provinces. There are 549 members of the Provincial Assembly in all the seven provinces, and 546 people have cast their votes. Similarly, out of 1,497 voters including the head and deputy head of the municipality, 1,486 voted, according to the Election Commission. The three independent mayors in the discussion did not vote. Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor Balendra Shah, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolis Gopi Hamal and Dharan Mayor Hark Sampang Rai did not participate in the voting.

Elections were held today after the positions of 19 members of the National Assembly will be vacant on the 20th of February. The tenure of elected members today will be 6 years.
