KATHMANDU: 1 January: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gangan Thapa claimed that the Balkumari incident occurred due to the sheer negligence of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala.

During a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee held in Singha Durbar on Monday, Thapa said, “Such a big incident occurred owing to the negligence of the minister. Two persons lost their lives in the incident.”

He said that the government formed a probe commission at the demand of the Nepali Congress to investigate the incident.

“It has also been said that there is no work of the committee; instead responsible political leadership should resign. This is a moral issue and we will listen to the answer of the concerned sides,” he said.
