Kathmandu: A clash has erupted between demonstrators and the police in Balkhu, Kathmandu.

In a program held on Wednesday afternoon in the Balkhu area at the invitation of medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, there was a confrontation between demonstrators and the police.

Members of the youth wings of the Nepal Communist Party (UML) and the All Nepal National Free Students Union were also present in the Balkhu area.

The police had adopted vigilance, anticipating possible clashes between the youth wings and the participants in Prasai’s program. Subsequently, clashes occurred between the demonstrators and the police after reaching the jail area.

To prevent further clashes, the police have sent the youth wing and All Nepal National Free Students Union of UML’s activists towards Kuleshwor, without allowing a confrontation between the two groups. The demonstrators had thrown water bottles at the police during the clash.
