Kathmandu: The consensus has been reached among the major political parties in Nepal regarding the leadership of three parliamentary committees, with the Nepali Congress gaining control of four, the Maoist Center obtaining two, while Unified Socialist, JSP, and Janamat securing one each. Additionally, the main opposition party, Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist), will lead three parliamentary committees.
However, neither Rashtriya Prjatantra Party (RPP) nor Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been given the opportunity to lead any parliamentary committee.
According to the division, the Nepali Congress will take charge of the Finance Committee, Parliamentary Hearing Committee, State Affairs and Governance Committee, and Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. Similarly, the Maoist Center will head the International Relations Committee and the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee, while Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) will lead the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee. JSP will lead the International Relations and Tourism Committee, and Janamat will lead the Industry and Commerce as well as Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee.
Janajati Party has acquired the Law Committee, and Maoist Center’s Member of Parliament, Kalpana Miyan, has hinted at the possibility of the Maoist Center acquiring the International Relations Committee. She shared this information during a meeting of the Maoist Center’s parliamentary party convened by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
