UML prepares to confront aggressive expression of PM, obstruction in parliament

Kathmandu: CPN (UML), the main opposition party, has announced a protest in parliament against the controversial expression made by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Monday.

CPN(UML) has became agitated after the controversial expression of PM Prachanda during the book launch event of ‘Roads to the Valley’ by author Kiran Deep Sandhu in Kathmandu on Monday.

UML held an emergency meeting of the parliamentary party on Wednesday and reached the conclusion to protest in parliament against the Prime Minister’s expression.

Speaking after the meeting, UML leader Mahesh Bartaula expressed his discontent over the Prime Minister’s expression against the country’s pride and universal freedom.

“Prachanda is saying that he was not made Prime Minister by the parliament but by Delhi. The decision of our meeting today is to resist the attack made by the Prime Minister on the parliament and universal power,” he said. “We will raise this issue in parliament unitedly. The Prime Minister elected by the people is not the one made from somewhere else.”

He mentioned that since this is not an ordinary matter, it will be raised in parliament in a strong manner.

“We will not obstruct the parliamentary meeting immediately, but the parliamentary meeting can be obstructed until there is a search for where one person is repeatedly made Prime Minister. This is not a general matter; we will raise it firmly in the House,” he said.

During the book launch program, Prime Minister Prachanda praised Sardar Pritam Singh and mentioned that he himself had been made Prime Minister several times in Delhi and Nepal.

“He had an interest not only in transportation, social service, and education but also in politics. He worked hard to make me Prime Minister. He even went to Delhi several times,” he said. “He had extensive discussions with the parties in Kathmandu and the leaders of the parties. Only when politics became clean did the country start to develop. I have had continuous interaction and cooperation with him since the peace process.”
