Cabinet expansion likely today

Kathmandu, Mar. 28: Top leaders of the major ruling parties held a meeting on Monday and discussed the issue of cabinet expansion.

In the meeting held at Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s official residence in Baluwatar, the leaders decided to call a meeting of all ruling parties on Tuesday for further discussion on the issue of the cabinet expansion. In the meeting, Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Centre chairman Prachanda, Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Unified Socialist) chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal discussed the power sharing issue as well as the cabinet expansion.

Prime Minister’s secretariate informed that the leaders agreed to call a meeting of all ruing parties at 4:00 on Tuesday. Prime Minister’s press expert Manahari Timilsina informed The Rising Nepal that Tuesday’s meeting would finalise the sharing of the ministries among the ruling parties and expand the cabinet. 

The NC, CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal, Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal and two other parties are in the present ruling coalition.

Likewise, the Nepali Congress has also called its Central Work Execution Committee meeting for Thursday to discuss the cabinet expansion and pick the names of the NC lawmakers to be inducted in the cabinet. 

NC chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel informed that the meeting would be held at the party’s central office in Sanepa of Lalitpur at 11:00 am on Tuesday. The meeting is also likely to discuss the party’s candidates for the by-election. The party has invited the office-bearers and CWEC members to the meeting.
