Kathmandu, May 30: The veteran journalist and littérateur Vijay Chalise has passed away today. 

President of Surabhi Sahitya Pratishthan, Bajuram Poudel, said that Chalise died while undergoing treatment at Nepal Medical College on Friday morning.  

He served as the executive chairman of the Sansthan from June 2009 to February 2011. 

Similarly, he served as editor-in-chief of Gorkhapatra Daily from September 24, 2005,  to December 27, 2005and from June 13, 2007, to September 01, 2008.

He was awarded with ‘Ramchandra-Indra’ award, with a cash prize of Rs 50 0000 on the occasion of Gorkhapatra Sansthan entering its 125th year.
