Kathmandu: The recent earthquake in Jajarkot has left Nepal and several other countries shocked at the extent of damage caused to human lives and physical infrastructure. Following the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the Ramidanda region of Jajarkot on Friday night, it has been confirmed that 157 people have lost their lives in Jajarkot and Rukum West, with injuries reported in thousands. Billions worth of physical infrastructure have been damaged.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a message of condolence to Nepali President Ramchandra Poudel. In his message, President Xi stated, “I am deeply saddened by the extensive human and physical damage caused by the earthquake in Karnali Province of Nepal.” President Xi also expressed readiness to provide necessary assistance to Nepal. In his condolences, Chinese President Xi conveyed sympathy to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Similarly, Russian President Vladimir Putin also sent a message of sympathy to Nepal. President Putin has sent messages to Nepalese President Ramchandra Poudel and Prime Minister Pushp Kamal Dahal Prachanda, expressing deep condolences during this sorrowful time. He extended his sympathy to the affected families and residents of the affected areas, expressing solidarity in their moment of grief. He also wished for a swift recovery of the injured.
