Kathmandu: -Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has returned to the country after completing a 6-day visit to Italy. During his visit, Prime Minister Prachanda participated in the “Food System Summit Plus Two” organized by the United Nations, Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome, Italy, and returned home on Friday morning.
During his trip to Italy on 22 July, Prime Minister Dahal addressed the “Food System Summit” and emphasized the need to combat climate change and other crises and strengthen the capacity for adaptation and investment in agriculture in highly developed countries.
Prime Minister Dahal addressed the “United Nations Food System – 2023 Stocking Moment” in this context. During the occasion, he highlighted the effective programs implemented in Nepal for the health and overall educational improvement of students in schools that fall under the “School Meal Program.”
While in Rome, Prime Minister Dahal had a bilateral meeting with Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral interests and concerns. They also discussed matters of cooperation in the agriculture and hydropower sectors and other regional collaborations.
Prime Minister Dahal also met with Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations. During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen the relations between Nepal and the United Nations regarding the environment, food security, and other crucial issues.
In addition, Prime Minister Dahal had a meeting with the Executive Director of the World Food Program and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Gilbert Houngbo. They also discussed various issues related to food security, poverty reduction, and women and human welfare improvement.
While in Rome, Prime Minister Dahal participated in a welcoming program organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association of Italy. During this program, he informed the attendees about the current government’s campaigns for social justice, good governance, development, and prosperity.
During the trip, Prime Minister Dahal had discussions with representatives from the Nepali Progressive Forum in Italy, Belgium, Spain, Croatia, Portugal, Austria, and Ireland.
In this context, he conveyed the government’s firm commitment to the campaigns for governance, social justice, and prosperity. Accompanying him in the delegation were his personal secretary and daughter Ganga Dahal, Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Dr. Beduram Bhusal, National Planning Commission member Dr. Jayakant Raut, Foreign Secretary Bharata raj Paudel security and communication staff, and others.
