PM Prachanda’s controversial statement criticized from all sides

Kathmandu July 4 : Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is once again embroiled in controversy due to his irrational statement. He stated that businessman Pritam Singh had lobbied heavily to make him the Prime Minister and even went to Delhi. If he wants to be the country’s Prime Minister, it is not a matter for the people to decide; he should go to Delhi.

During the book launch program of “Roads to the Valley: The Legacy of Sardar Pritam Singh in Nepal” by Kiran Deep Sindhu, who brought the first truck to Nepal from the Sardar community, Prachanda made controversial statements. He said, “He (Singh) lobbied me heavily to become the Prime Minister. He even insisted on going to Delhi. There were continuous discussions with leaders and colleagues in Kathmandu. If politics goes well, then everything will be fine. This belief was held that everything would be good in all sectors. In the same context, he is always believed that Prachanda would have become the Prime Minister” according to Prachanda.

Analyzing the public expression given by the Prime Minister, ex ambassador to India Nilambar Acharya considered it unfortunate. He stated that the Prime Minister had misunderstood the people’s directive, which was received with confidence from the Parliament. “Who appoints the Prime Minister? It is not appropriate to see the tendency of looking towards Delhi to become the Prime Minister,” he said.

Other Political analysts were commented on PM’s statement, saying that it criticizes the person and diminishes the dignity of the nation. They told, “This expression enhances the dignity of the nation. There may be a lot of chaos in his mind, but such non-political expressions should not come from the Prime Minister himself.”

Rajendra Gautam, the head of the publicity department of the opposition party, UML considered it objectionable to indicate external forces as mentioned in the constitution when it comes to the provision of the Prime Minister being elected. He said, “If he (Dahal) wants to be the Prime Minister, it is necessary to clarify what qualities he has. He should be prepared to reveal more. This cannot be saddening.”

An official from the Maoist party also mentioned that the Prime Minister was wrong in his statement. He said, “It was not right for him to give a statement indicating that he went to India when the question of national sovereignty arose. The Prime Minister should have prepared well before speaking.”

The personal secretary of the Prime Minister, Ramesh Mallah, said, “He (Prachanda) has only quoted what Pritham Singh has said about him wanting to become the Prime Minister.” He further added, “The Prime Minister has only conveyed Pritham Singh’s statement. Can anyone become the Prime Minister by running to Delhi?”

That expression of Prachanda has received significant criticism from individuals in various fields on social media.
