Foreigners are planning play-ground in Mustang : K.P. Sharma Oli

Kathmandu, March 4: Foreigners are planning to make a play ground in Mustang to open a Buddhist college, according to CPN-UML Chairman K.P. Sharma Oli. He stated that the plan to build the Play ground has already been advanced. Speaking at a program organized by the local level employees’ union on Saturday, Chairman Oli described the plan as a national initiative.

“The establishment of the university (Mustang Buddhist College) in Mustang is foreign investment. It is an attack on national sovereignty. It is a betrayal against the friendly nation of China,” said Chairman Oli. “The plan was to double down in 2031 on a large scale. It rejected the country’s sovereignty and denied its independence,” he added, stating that the university had become a cover-up for other shady activities. He accused them of focusing on uranium in the area where the plan for the play-gruound was proposed. “They had looked for it before in 2031. It was below Chamé in Marpha. Now, they are looking for it above Lomanthang. Where there are no residents, they establish a university! Special-purpose trees are the only things that grow there,” Chairman Oli satires.

They had stated that the said plan was very dangerous. “We have to fight against it and oppose it,” he said.

Originally, it was prepared to establish a Buddhist college in the area designated for the welfare of Tibetan refugees and to provide a grant of 70 million 33 lakh Nepalese rupees by India. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu had proposed to construct the college in the Barahachhetra rural Municipality of Mustang district and had requested Nepal’s permission to construct it with the help of India’s grant.

In addition, the leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN- UML), Oli, had also opposed the import of vegetables from India without proper testing for pesticides. “There is no shame in the government officials living off of what we consume. They allow vegetables with poisonous substances to enter Nepal, making Nepalis sick. What will happen if Nepalis die?” Oli questioned. “The government has not conducted any investigation into the presence of pesticides in vegetables and other produce as ordered by the Prime Minister. It is a matter of urgency to have testing facilities in every location. But no one cares about this,” Oli added. He also accused the government of being happy to please foreign powers, while ignoring the concerns of the Nepalese people. “They are happy to please external powers and kill their own people with poisonous substances. We must oppose this,” Oli shouted.
