India’s Commitment to Support the Election

Kathmandu, December 9: Neighboring India has expressed its commitment to assist in the successful conduct of the upcoming House of Representatives elections.

During a meeting held today with Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Additional Secretary of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, Munu Mahawar, pledged to provide necessary resources and materials for election-related security arrangements.

Munu Mahawar, the Additional Secretary responsible for Northern Affairs at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday as part of an official visit to Nepal.

In the meeting, the Indian Additional Secretary also expressed India’s commitment to support reconstruction efforts following the Jajarkot earthquake, as well as the restoration and management of structures damaged by the disaster, according to the Home Minister’s private secretariat.

Additional Secretary Mahawar also extended an invitation to Home Minister Aryal to visit India at an appropriate time.

During the discussion, Home Minister Aryal requested that work on the under-construction dry port in Dodhara–Chandani, Kanchanpur, be expedited.

He also emphasized the need to enhance the capacity of border security organizations on both sides and to make information-sharing more effective in order to prevent border crimes, theft and smuggling, illegal cross-border movement of goods, and criminal activities.
