India celebrates 76th Republic Day

Kathmandu, 13 Magh. Today, India is celebrating its 76th Republic Day. This year, India is celebrating Republic Day with the slogan ‘Golden India – Heritage and Development’, BBC Hindi has reported.

President Draupadi Murmu is set to hoist the national flag at the ‘Kartavyapath’ in New Delhi from 10 am on the occasion of Republic Day. Tableaux from various states and government departments will be displayed in the parade, BBC Hindi has reported.

The government today announced the recipients of two Kirti Chakras, 14 Solar Chakras and some gallantry awards to be distributed on the occasion of the Republic Day. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will attend as the chief guest on the occasion of the Republic Day.

India, which gained independence from British colonial rule on August 15, 1947, was declared a republic with the promulgation of its constitution on January 26, 1950.
