Hearing of writ petition to remove 30 year police service

Kathmandu, Aug 22: The hearing of the writ petition filed in the Supreme Court demanding the removal of the 30-year of service period in police is underway. 

21 police officers, including Senior Superintendent of Police Jiban Kumar Shrestha, had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court demanding to remove 30 years of service policy on Wednesday. 

The hearing is underway on Thursday on a single bench of the Supreme Court, Hari Prasad Phuyal. 

90 officers in Nepal Police are going on compulsory retirement due to provisions related to 30 years of service period. 

They have filed a writ petition saying that even though the age limit remains, one has to go on compulsory retirement after 30 years of service on August 31.
