Myagdi, June 3: A concrete motorable bridge has been constructed over the Myagdi Khola in Bharbang Ghat in Myagdi district. With the construction of the bridge, it has become easier for the locals of Ward No. 5, Malkabang, and 6, Marang of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality to reach Muna, the centre of the rural municipality. 

According to Bishnu Paudel, Chief of the Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi, the bridge with 6-metre width and 40-metre length was constructed under Beni-Darbang-Bim-Takam-Muna-Jaljala-Dhorpani road project, which is considered as an alternative road to Mid-Hill Highway (a national pride project connecting the East and West). 

The Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi, awarded the construction contract to Dev and Sair BN JV for Rs. 690 million on June 24, 2019.

Although there was a delay in the bridge construction due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the construction was completed within the extended deadline of mid-July, 2024. 

Engineer Sandesh Bogati of the Infrastructure Development Office informed that they had started constructing the approach road after building the bridge and were expecting transportation operations to commence within a few weeks. 

Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality Vice Chairman, Resham Punmagar said that with the construction of the bridge, locals from Marang and Malkabang of the rural municipality need not take a long route to reach Muna. Earlier, locals had to reach Muna via Darbang Bazaar, the centre of Malika Rural Municipality.

Additionally, the bridge has also facilitated travel for residents of Ward No. 7 of Malika Rural Municipality to reach settlements like Takam and Muna, reducing the distance, informed Vice Chairman, Punmagar. 

He said that the rural municipality would take the necessary initiatives to upgrade the road from the bridge to Takam village.
