Surkhet, May 20:The Election Commission (EC) has started collecting suggestions for the 4th Strategic Plan (2024/25-2028/29) by organising a province-level discussion in Surkhet of Karnali Province.

According to the EC, the strategic plan will come into implementation in mid-July and the Commission planned to finalise the plan after proper discussions with all concerned stakeholders.

“The suggestions will guide the Election Commission in performing its work and responsibility effectively as per the jurisdiction,” said Janaki Kumari Tuladhar, an Election Commissioner.

She added, “Organising elections is not the only work of the Election Commission. We must also ensure that the elections are conducted timely and transparently.”

“The new plan is being formed for safe and transparent local, provincial and federal elections. The plan also aims to strengthen the inspection part. The commission expects good suggestions from the stakeholders,” Tuladhar said.

Addressing the programme, Election Commission’s secretary Rabilal Pantha informed that the suggestions would be reflected upon and included in the plan as necessary.

District-level election officials, civil society members, political party leaders and local citizens from all 10 districts of Karnali are participating in the two-day programme organised by the EC.
