Nepal and Qatar, bilateral understanding and cooperation agreement signed

Kathmandu: Between Nepal and Qatar, there has been a bilateral understanding and cooperation agreement signed. During the bilateral meeting between Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, an understanding and agreement were reached, with signatures put in place at the Soltee Hotel.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, there is an understanding to cooperate in various sectors such as government news agencies, attorney general’s offices, diplomatic training and studies, education, art and culture, and sports.

Similarly, there have been two agreements between the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Appreciation for Nepali Workers from Qatari Amir

During his visit to Nepal, Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani praised the role of Nepali workers in Qatar’s development. During the bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Wednesday, the Qatari Amir expressed his commitment to providing further employment opportunities in the coming days. He also expressed readiness to support the skill enhancement of Nepali workers, as conveyed by the Prime Minister’s Office.

Similarly, in the bilateral discussions, there were talks about exploring investment opportunities in energy, agriculture, and transportation between Nepal and Qatar.

“We see favorable conditions for investment from Nepal into Nepal, and due to our relationship with Qatar, we want to extend an invitation,” he said.

In global conflict resolution, Qatar has been praised for its mediation efforts, while Prime Minister Prachanda also urged for a role for Nepal’s Vipin Joshi, who was successfully rescued following the Hamas attack in Israel.

Following the program at Hotel Soltee, Qatari delegates will also participate in a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister at the hotel, and thereafter, the Qatari delegation will return home.

On the invitation of President Ramchandra Poudel, the King of Qatar arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday for a two-day state visit. He held talks with President Poudel on Tuesday evening, followed by a formal dinner at Shital Niwas where he was also present.
