CPN (MC) Vice Chair Mahara released without bail

Kathmandu, 22 March:  Vice Chairman of the ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been released without bail. 

According to Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) Spokesperson SP Hobindra Bogati, Mahara has been released within the purview of his son Nirmal Mahara on the condition that he would be presented before CIB when summoned. 

CIB released him after the completion of the inquiry by the Kathmandu District Attorney’s Office. He is said to have been released to due to his health condition.  

Mahara was arrested in connection with the gold smuggling case on March 18. 

A high-level probe commission was formed under the Chairmanship of former judge Dilliraj Acharya to investigate gold smuggling recommendation action against Mahara in a gold smuggling case on Sunday.
