PM to inaugurate Bharatpur Visit Year on March 1

Bharatpur, Feb. 28: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is scheduled to inaugurate the Bharatpur Visit Year 2024 with the slogan ‘Ghumau Bharatpur’ (Visit Bharatpur). Preparations are underway to have former Prime Ministers participate in the inaugural programme to be held on March 1. Renu Dahal, Mayor of the Bharatpur Metropolitan City, said that the metropolis has sent invitations to all former Prime Ministers, and most of them have indicated that they will participate.

In a press conference held in Bharatpur on Tuesday, Mayor Dahal urged everyone to make the visit year a success. According to Dahal, former Prime Ministers, federal government ministers, heads of the seven provinces, chief ministers, ministers, and federal and provincial parliamentarians will be present at the programme.

The inaugural event has been scheduled to be held on the banks of the Narayani River in Narayangadh. She also mentioned that preparations for the inauguration have reached the final stage.

The metropolis is preparing for the participation of about 50,000 people in the opening ceremony of the visit year. For this, the metropolis is planning to organise rallies with jhakis, including traditional music, from all 29 wards of the metropolis. To ensure the success of the visit year, a 2,024-member Main Ceremony Committee and a 7-member Steering Committee have been formed under the coordination of Dahal.

Similarly, preparations for the visit year have been made by establishing a 19-member performance committee under the coordination of Metropolitan Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari, an advisory committee involving specific personalities from different areas of the district, and 30 different thematic sub-committees. Throughout the visit year, 51 different programmes will be conducted under the leadership of various private sector organisations. The metropolis aims to attract about 200,000 foreign and 500,000 domestic tourists during the visit year. 

Narendra Kumar Rana, administrative officer of the metropolis, said that 15,000 beds have been arranged in hotels in Sauraha, Gaindakot, and Bharatpur to accommodate tourists visiting during the visit year.
