PM Prachanda pledges to address Dang farmers’ protest

Kathmandu, Feb 26: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has pledged to address the farmers’ protest that is being held in Dang.  

A People’s representative from Dang who had come to meet the PM to draw attention to the farmer’s protest of Swargadwari Guthi, on Monday, met the PM and during the meeting, the PM committed to addressing the issue. Farmers came on the road with plow and a land ownership certificate on Monday for their rights. 

Rekha Sharma, Minister for Communication and Information Technology, elected Member of Parliament from Dang consistency-2, had informed PM about the ongoing protest of farmers. 

Tenancy farmers of Dang have been raising their voices in demand of the acquisition of land for a long time and have come forward in road demonstrations recently. In line with the ongoing protest Minister Sharma had urged PM to table the demands of struggling farmers by forming a dialogue committee. 

The tenancy farmers have come on the road saying that they have yet to get their rights even having a record certificate of Tenancy rights on land that they have plowed for three generations.
