NC president Deuba to open Mahasamiti meeting today

 Kathmandu, Feb. 19: Nepali Congress has said that it has completed all necessary preparations for its General Committee (Mahasamiti) meeting which is beginning in Godavari, Lalitpur, on Monday. 

 Meen Bahadur Bishwakarma, the head of the Congress Publicity Department, addressed the media at the Godavari Sunrise Conference Centre on Sunday, confirming the party’s readiness for the Mahasamiti meeting. 

The party has also established its media centre to disseminate information about the meeting in Godavari. 

Bishwakarma highlighted that the main objective of the General Committee, set to take place in Godavari from February 19 to 22, is to formulate the party’s policy. Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate the meeting at 1 pm on Monday.

During the session, reports on policy formulation, organisational structures, contemporary political issues, the current economic situation of Nepal, and the audit report approved by the central working committee meeting on February 16 would be presented for discussions. 

Bishwakarma mentioned that the reports would be discussed in separate groups, ensuring representation from the Tarai, Madhes, Mountain, and Hilly regions in four designated halls.

With 165 central office bearers and members, and 1780 general committee members elected from 165 federal parliament constituencies, observers and others are expected to participate in the jamboree.

 Bishwakarma expressed confidence that the discussions would underscore the Nepal Congress’s commitment to addressing the current political environment and working faithfully for positive societal change. 

Additionally, 89 individuals from the Nepali Public Relations Committee, 69 from fraternal and benevolent organisations, along with provincial, district, and central presidents of these groups, who are not general committee members, have been invited to the meeting, according to Bishwakarma.
