Lumbini: Hollywood actor Jet Li, renowned globally, is offering prayers for world peace in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. He has been staying in Lumbini since Wednesday, participating in the Bumchok Puja that commenced there. Engaging in a five-day Peace Puja under the Mahayana tradition at the memorial of the Great Master, he remains there from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

He takes a break for an hour at noon for lunch. During the puja, he recites various mantras, offers prayers, and meditates while counting prayer beads. He also performs lamp-lighting ceremonies at intervals. He is expected to participate in the puja in Lumbini until Monday.

At the age of 61, Jet Li is not only a martial arts star in China but also an actor and film producer. He has become internationally famous as a film star, winning five U.S. Wushu championships in China. He began his acting career in China with the film ‘Shaolin Temple’ in 1982. His first Hollywood project was the film ‘Romeo Must Die’ in 2000. His most successful film is ‘Lethal Weapon 4,’ which earned him over 130 million dollars.
