Mega songster Arijit Singh rocks capital

Kathmandu, Nov. 29: Mesmerising Arijit Singh rocked Kathmandu city in a magical evening with his melodious songs in front of a packed house with over 10,000 audiences on the premises of Hyatt ground. 

Denizens had last seen such a scale of concert back in 2011 when Brian Adams played his tunes in Kathmandu. The anticipation of the audience was conveyed by the roar that took place when Arijit Singh appeared on the stage. “This is my first visit to Nepal, I want to thank everybody for coming here,” he said before starting his concert with hit numbers.

The songs he sang included ‘Gerua’, the title track from the film ‘Fitoor’, ‘Samjhawan’, ‘Tum hi ho’, ‘Channa Mereya’, ‘Zaalima’, ‘Muskurane ki wajah’, ‘Soch na sake’, ‘Agar tum saath ho’, ‘Janam janam’, ‘Raabta’ and ‘Aae dil hai mushkil’. The audience screamed as cheering went louder with each song. 

He held the audience completely spellbound with his energy and his mellifluous voice. The whole crowd was singing along with Singh, and it was as if the whole venue was electrified by the sound of music. There were many fans outside the venue on the roadside and building tops who also indulged in his melody just by hearing him sing. 

Arijit could be seen encouraging the audience to sing along with him. The Bollywood singer, who had injured his leg prior to the event, stood up tall to perform. During his performance, he interacted with the crowd, giving autographs on papers, t-shirts, mobile covers and caps which were thrown on the stage by the fans.

The songster also sang a Nepali song which was received very emotionally by the crowd. He sang ‘Aau na auu yo manalai’ with a Nepali flag wrapped around his shoulders.  His affection for singing a Nepali song was well-praised by the audience.

Impressed by the successful big event held in Nepal, denizens have demanded more international artists perform here in future. The platform event organisers created for bringing international artists cannot be ignored.

Arijit Singh is a well-known artist who has billions of fans around the world. He has entertained his fans through his music. So, to bring such a big artist and hold a successful event in Nepal is an opportunity to bring more international artists, making Nepal a popular venue to perform songs. 

Arguments arose regarding the pricing of the ticket where the door price of Rs. 7,000 for general view and Rs. 40,000 for VVIP seats. However, the organisers defended the pricing stating that it was standard price for Singh’s concerts all over the world. They even said that in some countries the prices are double  they changed in Nepal.

Arijit bid farewell to Nepali fans by singing Acha chalta hu duwaon mein yaad rakhna, however, the audience kept grooving and craving for more. He and his group made believe that good ending never go out of style. 

It was an experience of a lifetime, especially for people present in Kathmandu city experiencing an international artist perform in a huge scale after a gap of long period.
