Jajarkot (Nalgad), Nov 20: Locals have intensified preparations to construct temporary structures in the Jajarkot earthquake-ravaged schools to resume educational activities. Teaching and learning activities are resuming in the earthquake-affected public and private schools after festivals. Though the earthquake has affected school activities in Rukum (West) and Jajarkot districts, construction of temporary structures is underway. Some of the schools in the district are preparing to resume teaching and learning activities from coming Tuesday while some schools are constructing huts to run teaching and learning activities. According to the Karnali province government’s Ministry of Social Development, teaching and learning will begin in Nalgad municipality of Jajarkot district from coming Tuesday. The municipality was the earthquake hardest hit area. The quake had affected a total of 58 schools, informed acting Chief Administrative Officer of Nalgad municipality’s education section, Balbir BK. He further shared total 128 classrooms were fully damaged. BK informed the teaching and learning activities will be resumed in partially damaged schools from tomorrow onward. The head teachers have published notice urging all teachers to attend schools for resuming curricular activities. Noting that teaching activities will continue as temporary tents have been already set up, Pancha Bhayar Secondary School’s head teacher Narendra KC said, asking teachers and students to attend school. “Teaching and learning will restart in the schools sans damage from tomorrow onward Preparation is being made to construct learning center in the earthquake-affected schools. It may take some days to smoothly operate schools in this case”, he said. Chief of Social Development Office, Jajarkot, Yagya Bahadur Khatry said efforts are being made to resume teaching and learning activities in all earthquake-affected schools.
