Ban on TikTok to save social harmony and family unity: Prime Minister

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda has stated that a ban on TikTok will be imposed to save social harmony and family unity from disturbance. Addressing the program of offering homage to the national luminary Shankhadhar Saakhwa in Bhaktapur on Tuesday, which marked the beginning of Nepal Sambat 1144 and commemorated the initiator of Nepal Sambat, Prime Minister Prachanda informed that the decision was made to control the tendencies that spread discord, distortion, and lawlessness in society and to prevent the state from advancing irresponsibly.

He revealed that the objective of imposing the ban was to save social harmony and family unity from disturbance, based on a study conducted recognizing how democracies and developed countries at the international level have embraced credibility. He mentioned that he had set up a fund of 10 billion to expedite the assistance process for earthquake victims. The government’s goal in imposing the ban was to inspire control over tendencies that spread distortion, discord, and lawlessness in society, as stated in his clear statement.

‘How to control the tendency to spread distortion, discord, and lawlessness in society and prevent the state from advancing irresponsibly?’ After extensive discussions on this topic, all political parties within the country, including both the ruling and opposition parties, reached a consensus. The study also extended to the international level, where democracies and developed countries at the international level have embraced credibility. This debate is ongoing. In this, there are also votes and disagreements. The government’s goal, as stated by me when I am the Prime Minister, is to be inspired by the credibility to control tendencies that spread distortion, discord, and lawlessness in Nepali society and to regulate them,’ said Prime Minister Dahal.

On Monday, Prime Minister Dahal also informed about the decision made during the Cabinet meeting to address housing issues and to submit a report on the possibility of earthquake insurance after studying it from a technical perspective.”
