The U.S. House passed a resolution endorsing Israel with overwhelming support

Kathmandu: The House is now voting to pass a resolution in support of Israel in the war against Hamas – the first measure to come to the floor to be passed after Speaker Mike Johnson was elected this morning following three weeks of a speakerless-House.

The Democratic “no” votes: Reps. Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, Andre Carson, Al Green, Summer Lee, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Delia Ramirez and Rashida Tlaib.

“Do not confuse my vote against this one-sided resolution with a lack of empathy for all those who are grieving. I voted against this resolution because it is a deeply incomplete and biased account of what is happening in Israel and Palestine, and what has been happening for decades,” said Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian-American lawmaker in Congress.

The Democratic “present” votes: Reps. Greg Casar, Joaquin Castro, Chuy Garcia, Pramila Jayapal, Nydia Velazquez and Ayanna Pressley.

The lone Republican no vote was from Rep. Thomas Massie.
