PM Prachanda Departs for the 78th UNGA to New York

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has left for the United States. He departed for New York on Saturday evening from Tribhuvan International Airport.

He is going to New York to participate in the 78th United Nations General Assembly. He is scheduled to address the General Assembly next Wednesday.

At the airport, Deputy Prime Minister Puran Bahadur Khadka, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, diplomatic officials, and other ministers were present to bid farewell to Prime Minister Prachanda.

On the previous day, Tuesday, he is scheduled to participate in a welcoming ceremony organized by President Joe Biden of the United States.

While in the United States, the Prime Minister is also slated to address various programs, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Summit and the Climate Ambition Summit.

He will also hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from different countries, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.

Prime Minister’s daughter, Ganga Dahal, Foreign Minister N.P. Saud, and Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Poudyal, among others, are accompanying him on this visit.

Prime Minister Prachanda is scheduled to visit China on 22 September.

During the China visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed that there will be discussions and understanding on various issues such as energy, physical infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, and mutual cooperation.
