Kathmandu: The major political parties have suggested to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda to maintain balance in Nepal’s relations with neighboring countries, including China. The Prime Minister, who is set to visit New York for the United Nations General Assembly and then to China, held an All-party meeting with former Prime Ministers, representatives from various parties in the parliament, and former Foreign Ministers on Sunday at the Prime Minister’s Office in Singhadarbar.
During the meeting, the parties recommended that the Prime Minister focus on keeping Nepal’s relations balanced with both China and India, as both countries have real friends in Nepal.
Nepali Congress President and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (UML) chairman and former prime minister KP Sharma Oli, CPN (Unified Socialist) chairman and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal participated in the discussion.
Similarly, Foreign Minister NP Saud, leaders Mahant Thakur, CK Raut, Chitra Bahadur KC, Prem Suwal, former Foreign Ministers Rameshnath Pandey, Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Dr. Vimala Paudel Rai, Prime Minister’s Political Advisor Haribol Gajurel, Security Advisor Shankardas Bairagi also presenting in the discussion.
When visiting China, the political parties have also advised the Prime Minister to raise the issue of China’s encroachments on Nepali territory. Following the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs NP Saud, who will accompany the Prime Minister on the China visit, informed about the importance of the visit and discussed various agendas and tasks that need to be addressed during the trip.
‘The Prime Minister will hold discussions with former Prime Ministers, leaders from parties representing in the parliament, and former Foreign Ministers to seek important suggestions and advice regarding his visit to China and the United Nations General Assembly in New York,’ he said.
In the context of international politics, the meeting emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance in Nepal-China relations and addressing issues related to both countries’ interests.”
