Why did PM Prachanda and Indian counterpart Modi have a telephone conversation?

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation. After the call, the Indian Prime Minister’s office informed through a statement that the two leaders discussed various bilateral issues of mutual interest during the telephone conversation.

During the phone call, they also discussed enhancing the already strong and friendly relations between the two countries. This telephone conversation reaffirmed the constant engagement at the highest political level between the two nations, as conveyed by the Indian Prime Minister’s office.

The Indian embassy in Kathmandu has released a press release regarding the phone conversations between Modi and Prachand.

‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation with the Rt. Hon’ble Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Prime Minister of Nepal today.

The two leaders reviewed various aspects of the India-Nepal bilateral cooperation and followed up on discussions held during Prime Minister Prachand’s recent visit to India from 31 May to 3 June 2023, so as to advance the bilateral partnership and to further strengthen the deep bonds of friendship between the two countries.

Nepal, a close and friendly neighbor, is a key partner in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. 

This telephone conversation continues the tradition of high-level exchanges between the two countries.’
