Kathmandu: The Maoist party’s constitutional amendment to add more members to the central committee has been passed, reaching a total of 409 central members and 199 alternative central members.
The central committee meeting, which started at Pragya Partisthan Bhawan in the capital, has decided to include female representation and representatives of former leaders in the central membership through the constitutional amendment.
During the meeting, Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda announced a three-month campaign for organizational strengthening, and after that, a constitutional conference will be held. He stated, “We will conduct a three-month campaign for party strengthening, and then hold a constitutional conference.” He also mentioned preparations for a special national convention that will be held after the constitutional conference in the organizational document.
In the document, it has been claimed that the party has seven hundred thousand organized members.
During the inauguration of the meeting, Chairman Prachanda acknowledged the party’s weakness and decided to launch the campaign, assigning leaders and workers to work up to the cell committee level.
