Empty houses burnt, fresh arson in Manipur’s Moreh

New Delhi (Agencies): Unrest has gripped the Indian state Manipur, with incidents of violence reported in Moreh district and Kangpokpi, leaving a trail of destruction.

Mobs have targeted empty houses in Moreh district and buses in Kangpokpi, resulting in a tense atmosphere and heightened security concerns. The local authorities are actively investigating the causes behind these attacks to understand the motives and identify those responsible.

As the situation remains volatile, law enforcement agencies are stepping up efforts to bring stability and ensure the safety of the affected communities. Security measures have been intensified to prevent further violence and protect public and private properties. Authorities are appealing to the public to maintain calm and cooperate with the ongoing investigations.

According to Defence sources, on Wednesday, a mob comprising people from the Kuki-Zomi community tried to steal from the abandoned houses belonging to Meitei people when “challenged” by an Assam Rifles patrol.
