PM Prachanda urges engineers to abandon ‘ineffective development practices’

Kathmandu July 19: Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda has urged engineers from all over the country to abandon ineffective development practices and misusing rare resources while constructing infrastructure. He made this appeal during his address at the 61st annual celebration program of the Nepal Engineers Association held in Kathmandu.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for proper planning and utilization of real resources for the country’s development. He stated that a significant portion of the development budget is spent in Asar (end of the fiscal year of Nepal) . He believes that engineers involved in development should timely initiate and complete development projects mentioned in the budget, adhering to the allocated funds and ensuring high-quality outcomes.

He also highlighted the importance of physical infrastructure for the economic development of the nation and stressed that it serves as the foundation for a strong socialist society. The Prime Minister expressed his commitment to achieving good governance and praised the government’s anti-corruption campaign. He advocated for a belief in addressing flaws through amendments and having faith in the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the risks faced by the country due to brain drain and emphasized the need to create employment opportunities and prospects within the nation. He urged for serious efforts to be taken to prevent such a situation and take proactive steps to generate employment and opportunities domestically.

After the demise of his wife Sita Dahal, Prime Minister Prachanda attended a public event for the first time. Sita Dahal passed away on July 12th.
