In Okhaldhunga landslide destroys three houses, two deaths

Biratnagar June 23 : In Bilandu of Champadevi Rural Municipality-8, Okhaldhunga, on Wednesday night, a landslide occurred, causing three houses to collapse. As a result, two individuals have lost their lives, and two people are reported missing.

The landslide claimed the lives of a local couple, Ranbahadur Gurung (36 years old) and his wife Shivamaya Gurung (31 years old). In addition, their son Dinesh Gurung (10 years old) and daughter Kritika Gurung (18 months old) are reported missing. The search operation for the missing individuals is underway, as informed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dipak Bahadur Keshi of the District Police Office.

Two other individuals, Balbahadur Gurung and Jarsingh Gurung, whose houses were also destroyed, managed to escape along with their family members. This information was provided by the District Police Office, which stated that the local residents informed the police about the landslide during the night. Upon receiving the information, the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and other security personnel reached the incident site for rescue operations. Additional police personnel were also dispatched from the district to the incident site for rescue efforts.
