Yoga be adopted as integral part of life: DPM Shrestha

Kathmandu, June 20: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narankaji Shrestha has said if yoga is practiced as an integral part of one’s life as well as applied scientifically; it will contribute significantly to the transformation of individuals and society at large.

At a yoga camp organized by Nepal Police in Police Headquarters in Kathmandu today on the occasion of 9th International Yoga Day that falls on June 21, DPM Shrestha said that our ancient thinkers, philosophers and yogis had been taking yoga practice as an integral part of their lives.

Stating that yoga practice should be extended beyond individual level, Shrestha praised yoga as saying, “Yoga practices and mediation contribute to the process of becoming physically and mentally clean, agile, balanced and in self-transformation.”

Sharing that he had taken initiative to encourage and promote yoga and meditation institutionally through policy intervention, he emphasized conducting yoga camps in Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, administrative sector and prisons.

Expressing his pride and joy over the delivery of the Nepal Police, the DPM directed the police personnel to perform their duties with more sense of duty so as to further establish pride and prestige of the Nepal Police.

Similarly, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Basanta Bahadur Kunwar expressed his confidence that the yoga camp would play an important role in raising awareness about yoga and yoga practices among the police personal.
