Indira Rana Magar elected as Deputy Speaker of HoR

Kathmandu, Jan 21: Rashtriya Swatantra Party’s Indira Rana Magar has been elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR). 

From the voting of the Deputy Speaker on Saturday Magar has been elected as the Deputy Speaker of HoR.  

Magar received 166 votes whereas her compitator Mukta Kumari Yadav from Nepali Congress received 97 votes. One vote was cast in neutral. 

A total of 264 members were presented.

On Friday Rashtriya Swatantra Party’s Indira Rana Magar and NC’s Mukta Kumari Yadav registered their candidacy for the post of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR).

Rashtriya Swatantra Party’s Sobita Gautam proposed Rana Magar whereas she was supported by Krishna Gopal Shrestha (UML), Narayani Sharma (Maoist Centre) and Rajendra Prasad Lingden (RPP). 

In the post, Yadav was proposed by NC’s Badri Prasad Pande and supported by Loktantrik Samajwadi Party’s Sarvendra Nath Shukla and CPN (Unified Socialists)’s Met Mani Chaudhary.
